Step #1 Stop from climbing telephones wires.
The doors to the telephone closet should be replaced, properly installed, and secured with locks. All wiring exiting the closet must be enclosed in steel conduits extending up to the ceiling. Replace the existing ceiling tiles with sheet metal tiles to prevent entrance. The entire construction should be thoroughly sealed from the bottom to the top to prevent entry. After completing this work, a metal enclosure should be constructed around the system for added protection, ensuring all seams are fully sealed. These measures will prevent rats from moving between floors. Any rats trapped within the area will be removed using strategically placed traps on and above the first floor ceiling. Personnel will conduct daily inspections and remove any rodents caught until the area is confirmed to be free of infestation.
Step #2 Secure dumpsters.
It is recommended that dumpsters be replaced with completely sealed new models. The chute connection to the dumpster should be secured with a removable metal seal designed to prevent rats from entering the dumpster and ensure there is no access for pests.
Step #3 Poison trap rat in the ceiling and collect daily.
Set multiple small traps in the ceiling on a daily basis. Over time, this method will slaughter the rat population. The trapped rats should be checked each day and removed, continuing the process until no rats remain in the first floor ceiling.
Note: Once the rat infestation has been resolved, measures can be implemented to prevent future rodent entry into the residential building.
